Request a Pizzazz Jazz Sampler CD!

The Pizzazz Jazz Sampler CD was recorded as a “live” mix (the complete band and vocalist were in the studio at the same time). We played tunes all the way through and just recorded as if we were performing live. This is the method which gives the truest indication of a band’s sound. Special thanks to Kelly Rossum for his artistic contribution.

If you are interested in hearing for yourself what all the PIZZAZZ is about, and have an event that deserves all that JAZZ, please submit the information needed for a free copy of the sampler!

Connie Sings Peggy with Pizzazz
by Joe Swierczek

It’s no wonder both local and national vocalists have chosen to do CD’s and/or concerts around the music and styling’s of Peggy Lee, she is one of the most unique vocalists of popular music. Pizzazz Jazz along with featured vocalist Connie Dusseau will perform a “J to Z” concert based on Miss Peggy Lee’s songbook. This concert will be performed February 27th, at 7:00 p.m. at Plymouth Creek Center.

Peggy Lee was singing professionally by the age of 14. It was the big band era and she soon was touring with bands and left North Dakota. In 1941 while singing in Chicago she was heard by Benny Goodman who was so impressed he immediately hired her for his band. Miss Lee is credited with writing over 500 songs including: “I Love Being Here With You”, “It’s A Good Day” and “He’s A Tramp”; lending her voice and composition skills to movies like “Lady and the Tramp” and she earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in “Pete Kelly’s Blues”.  Miss Lee is a proven visionary with her decades of creative input and adaptation to a constantly changing musical world.

Connie Dusseau and Pizzazz Jazz are excited about performing the distinctive hits, such as “Fever”, “I’m a Woman” and many more which were only special because of Miss Peggy Lee. We are going to recreate some of those special musical moments with Pizzazz Jazz, a band of outstanding musicians and Connie Dusseau our wonderful vocalist. I have been in big bands and on small combos with Connie, so I have known of her singing abilities for a long time. Connie can be smooth or she can kick it. She delivers the personal message of each tune with creativity and musicality.

As Pizzazz Jazz is primarily a dance band, variety is in and flexibility is requisite. We have the musicians who have the background to perform this diversity of music. The rhythm section can really lay it down: Paul Madore on drums, Bob Ockenden on guitar, Aaron Koskela on bass, and Virg Nelson on keyboard. The horn players can be a tight section, or they can do wonderful solos when called upon. They are Bob Beyers on alto/flute, Dana Mathewson on tenor/clarinet, Greg Michnay on trombone and Joe Swierczek on trumpet/flugel horn.
